What is SPRAVATO®?
SPRAVATO is a prescription nasal spray approved by the FDA for treatment-resistant depression in adults, either as monotherapy or together with an oral antidepressant. It is also approved, with an oral antidepressant, for depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder and acute suicidal ideation or behavior.
SPRAVATO is administered under the direct supervision of a healthcare provider. Because of important safety risks, it is available only through the SPRAVATO Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS), and treatment must take place in a certified healthcare setting.
Who may qualify?
SPRAVATO may be considered for adults who:
• Have major depressive disorder with an inadequate response to prior antidepressant treatment
• Need another evidence-based option for treatment-resistant depression
• Can participate in an in-office treatment and monitoring schedule
• Meet clinical and insurance-plan eligibility requirements
A psychiatric evaluation is required. Your clinician will review your medical history, medications, blood pressure, treatment history, safety considerations, and goals before recommending treatment.
What a treatment visit involves
1. Evaluation and benefits review. We determine clinical appropriateness and verify insurance requirements.
2. In-office administration. You administer the prescribed nasal spray yourself under direct clinical supervision.
3. Observation. Your blood pressure, respiratory status, and clinical response are monitored. Patients must be observed for at least two hours after each treatment and may need longer before being cleared to leave.
4. Transportation planning. You should not drive or operate machinery until the next day after a restful sleep. Arrange transportation home after every visit.
5. Ongoing care. Dosing frequency is individualized and adjusted according to response, tolerability, and prescribing information.

Important safety information
SPRAVATO carries boxed warnings for sedation, dissociation, respiratory depression, abuse and misuse, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Common adverse reactions in treatment-resistant depression include dissociation, dizziness, nausea, sedation, vertigo, decreased sensation, anxiety, lethargy, increased blood pressure, vomiting, feeling intoxicated, and headache.
SPRAVATO is not appropriate for everyone. Your clinician will review contraindications, medication interactions, pregnancy considerations, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risks, substance-use history, and other safety factors with you. Seek emergency help for a mental health crisis or immediate safety concern; SPRAVATO has not been shown to prevent suicide and does not replace hospitalization when clinically warranted.
Frequently asked questions
How long will I be at the office?
Plan for the administration process plus at least two hours of monitoring after each dose. Your clinician will determine when you are stable and ready to leave.
How often is SPRAVATO given?
The schedule is individualized. Treatment commonly begins with a more frequent induction phase and may transition to less frequent maintenance visits based on response and tolerability.
Can I drive after treatment?

Will insurance cover SPRAVATO?
